Hello Resident,
Today officers from the Community Safety Unit have been working hard to tackle one of your top‑voted priorities: road safety.
Officers arrested a driver for being under the influence of drugs. The vehicle was also uninsured, and the driver did not hold a valid licence, so a Traffic Offence Report was also issued and his vehicle seized.
In addition, officers carried out speed enforcement checks at various locations across Ashford, including Knoll Lane in Singleton and Woodchurch Road in Tenterden. Three drivers were issued tickets for speeding. They may be offered the option to attend a speed awareness course at their own expense or receive penalty points on their licence.
A further three tickets were issued to drivers who were not wearing a seatbelt. You can be fined up to £500 for not wearing a seat belt.
A vehicle in Tenterden was also seized for having no tax. We remain committed to improving road safety and protecting residents in Ashford, and we will be conducting further days of action to support this.
